The Beaver State Fling presented by Keen disc golf tournament is this weekend at Riverbend disc golf course at Milo McIver State Park. This Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) sanctioned National Tour event is one of ten in the nation to be held this year. The PDGA National Tour represents the top tier of professional disc golf events and was established in 2003 as a means of showcasing the sport of disc golf to the general public. The 2009 Tour consists of a series of ten events held across the country starting with the Memorial in Scottsdale, Arizona in March, and ending with the Vibram Open at Maple Hill in Leicester, Massachusetts in August. Competitors in these series events earned points based upon their place of finish, with the results of their top four finishes used to qualify for the Drive for the Championship, presented by Woodchuck Cider.
Stumptown Disc Golf, a Portland Metro disc golf club, is hosting the 2009 Beaver State Fling presented by Keen this year. Stumptown Disc Golf President, Steve Carson was excited when Keen came on board as the title sponsor and considers all the sponsors crucial to making this year’s Beaver State Fling the best ever. Disc Golf enthusiasts are encouraged to come out and watch the event for free. Milo McIver State Park is located in Estacada, Oregon.
